Farewell to the Director of the Edith Stein House
We gathered to thank Mrs. Maria Kromp-Zaleska for her long-standing service as the director of the Edith Stein House on Friday, October 23, at the Edith Stein House.
The meeting began with the Eucharist, during which we thanked God for Maria’s presence and her dedication to the mission of promoting the thought and legacy of St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross—Edith Stein. We also prayed for the graces needed for the years ahead, as she continues her service to the legacy of our Patroness — a role she will maintain in her capacity as Vice-President of the Edith Stein Society.
In recognition of her contributions to promotion of the legacy of Edith Stein, Maria Kromp-Zaleska was awarded the St. Edith Stein Prize in 2021, and in 2023, she was honored with the Bronze Medal for Merit to Culture “Gloria Artis.” Both distinctions underscore the significance of her long-term commitment to cultural endeavors and the preservation of the memory of our Patron.
We also entrusted the Board and all members of the Society to God, praying for unity, perseverance in our work, and the courage to continually seek the TRUTH—following the example of our Saint.
Following the formal part of the gathering and speeches, we enjoyed a shared meal, inspiring conversations, and the joy of being together. In a warm and heartfelt atmosphere, we spent the time together until late in the evening.
